Trappers You Trust: By Kaitlyn C.
When hiring expert trappers, try to find one that works humanely. When wildlife specialists intervene they have two options:
- Relocate it to another area.
- They can euthanize the animal.
Each choice has positives and negatives.
If a trapper feels the animal has a good chance of surviving, they relocate it. However, there are times where relocation may not be an option. If euthanizing is required, the most humane method applies.
Exotic Pet Owners Releasing Pets In The Wild
Problem arise when releasing exotic pets into the wild. Hence, this has been the case with green iguanas in South Florida. Pet owners acquire the reptile young, and when it is too big, they release it. Iguanas wreak havoc on Florida’s ecosystem. They are not native to the local environment. As a result, wildlife trappers are called in to help the situation. Without them, iguanas would destroy the areas natural habitat.
Iguanas also have company. Sadly, other exotic pets released in the wild disrupt nature. Any non-native animal released locally disrupts our habitats natural order. They eat plants native animals need to survive. Also, they may eat other smaller native animals. Thus, destroying the natural flow of the ecosystem.
Pet owners have a responsibility to care for their pets. This also means making sure they don’t escape. However, at times, some pet owners are no longer able to care for them. Their pet gets too hard to cope with. Thus, they release them into the wild. People use many excuses for releasing pets illegally. Sadly, no excuse is good enough to validate pets being set free in the wild.
Trappers For Domestic Turned Feral Wildlife
Domestic pets also disrupt the ecosystem when released in the wild. As a result, they usually die due from an inability to adapt. They have been brought up as house pets They don’t know how to survive on their own. A few will get run over by a vehicle. Some attacked by predators. Others will die slow, agonizing deaths due to not being able to find food.
Some domestic pets can survive the wild. In this case, they can reproduce quickly. As a result, they take over the area in feral numbers. This activity can destroy other species living in the habitat. Trappers help to establish the natural ecosystem once more. They remove the threat and restore order.
Trappers are good for the environment. They govern the natural order of the area. Also, they limit the spread of disease. Thus, saving the human lives and animals. A flourishing habitat is due in part to the work that professional trappers carry out.
